Lake District Kayak Tours
Ullswater, Windermere, Coniston Water and Derwent Water
The Lake District is a stunning place and we feel that the only way to see it is from the best seat in the house - from your kayak! At Distant Horizons we pride ourselves on the unmatched fleet of high quality single and tandem sea kayaks that we own. Without question they are the most suitable boats for exploring the Lakes offering excellent speed, handling and manoevreability and they are very easy to paddle with a very high level of comfort.
We have invested in purchasing Wilderness Systems Tempests and Zephyrs which are single sea kayaks and Northstars which are tandems. All of the boats are extremely comfortable, easy to paddle and offer the beginner and expert alike the best there is in a quality boat to use on an adventure tour. All equipment and clothing is provided for all tours. We run lake tours for groups on a date of their choice and provide excellent all-inclusive packages. Our tours are led by our highly experienced and qualified instructors who have been running these events for many years and will provide you with an enjoyable day where you can experience the true delights of paddling a high end sea kayak in the stunning Lake District.
We are based at Watermillock, Ullswater and have private lake access with the use of toilets and showers on the lake shore in addition to our new facilities at our company headquarters.
A typical Ullswater Kayak tour day looks like this:
- 9am Meet at our company headquarters, Watermillock, Ullswater.
- Introductions, tea/coffee, croissants served in our new training room.
- Safety briefing, video and introduction to equipment
- 20 minute training session on equipment use.
- Transfer to Lake - 4 minutes.
- Full day tour with instruction 10am - 4pm - Full lunch included.
- Return to Distant Horizons headquarters for change, have hot drinks and cake.
- Look at photo's and video from day on Lake.
- Depart 5pm
Maximum group sizes: Single Sea Kayaks - 12 (1:6 ratio) Tandem Sea Kayaks 10 (1:6 ratio)
At Distant Horizons we strive to offer prices where all of our clients get exceptional value for money. Our pricing is based on group sizes as seen below.
Group Prices:
- Up to 4 people - group price £320 (£80 per person)
- 5 - 7 people £320 + £60 per extra person.
- 8 - 12 people £320 + £50 per extra person.
