Rock Climbing Courses
There is nothing better than progressing upwards on dry Lakeland rock whilst absorbing the stunning surrounding views. We provide a wide range of rock climbing courses from short beginners taster sessions to multi-day technical climbing. Working in great locations within the Lake District National Park with highly experienced and qualified staff, you are guaranteed to have a very safe and enjoyable time learning new skills.
At Distant Horizons we are very proud of the fact that we provide all of our clients with only the best equipment available on the market such as Petzl 'Corax' harnesses, Petzl Elios and Ecrin Helmets and La Sportiva/Scarpa rock climbing shoes. Distant Horizons have their own indoor climbing centre at their headquarters in Watermillock, Ullswater which offers an alternative should the Lake District weather be too inclement. This is a purpose built facility offering over 100m2 of climbing area with a wide range of climbing routes, dry tooling routes and an extensive abseil platform.
The platform is also ideal for technical training including hoisting and hauling, rigging belays and setting up tyrolean traverses. We believe this is one of the best venues in the Lake District and specifically aimed at giving people the best facility possible to learn the many techniques associated with the climbing world!
