Indoor Training Centre, Ullswater

At Distant Horizons UK Ltd we are currently having a brand new training centre being built at our headquarters in Watermillock, Ullswater. The centre will be 6m high with extensive space, walls, platforms and steel work with fitted Petzl bolts to offer the perfect indoor training centre that offers climbing, abseiling, Via Ferrata, tyrolean traverses and dry tooling as well as archery and a range of team building exercises.

The opening date is October 2010 and we will be offering a number of technical training courses and sessions in the following areas:

  • Indoor climbing - top rope and leading
  • SPA Training courses in conjunction with www.adventures.org.uk
  • Bouldering
  • Abseiling
  • Ropework courses including knots, belaying, anchors, escaping the system, tyrolean set up, hoisting and hauling
  • Crevasse ropework including hoisting and pulley systems, redirects, self rescue and prussiking
  • Expedition preparation including fixed line ascending techniques
  • Big wall techniques including aid climbing ropework, hauling and portaledge handling and set up
  • Dry tooling skills and techniques
  • SRT ropework skills for cavers
  • Team building exercises and training for groups and organisations
  • Training venue hire.

All equipment is provided at our new training center including rock climbing shoes, harnesses, ropes, helmets, leashless axes, crampons, full SRT kits. Distant Horizons will be shortly advertising the full list of courses we will be running from October 2010.
