When conditions are right in the Lake District there are many fantastic winter climbing routes from straight forward snow gullys to delicate faces with smears of thin ice. Mixed winter climbing is quite common in the Lake District where you change from snow to rock to ice and even on to frozen turf.
If you are looking for training in any aspect of winter climbing in the Lake District we will design a course to the highest standard aimed specifically at your needs. We provide all technical winter climbing equipment including crampons ice axes and winter hardware on our training courses with highly experienced and qualified guides and instructors (MIC/Guides) at your side.
You don't always have to go into the Lake District mountains to get winter climbing training - our technical rope work training centre in the Lake District has an indoor facility for practicing skills used in winter climbing such as climbing with technical axes (on our dry tooling wall) and rescue techniques. We also have vertical elements in our grounds set up with top rope systems enabling vertical ice axe and crampon technique training.
All of our winter climbing courses and training are based on the current conditions within the Lake District. Because snowfall and freezing conditions are intermittent in the Lake District we arrange last minute courses and training to ensure the winter climbing conditions are most suitable, therefore we advise people to contact us if you are interested and we can then keep you informed as conditions develop in the Lake District fells.
