Ullswater Mountain and Lake Challenge

Our ultimate eco-challenge combining kayaking, mountain scrambling/walking and canoeing in the stunning Ullswater valley; one of the Lake District's most dramatic areas.

One of our company aims is to minimise the negative effects of our operations on the natural environment, so we have designed several events that take a large step towards this, particularly the Ullswater Challenge.  England's 2nd largest lake and 3rd highest mountain define the Ullswater valley and make a fantastic backdrop for this event.  By utilising these neighbouring natural features groups can stretch and test themselves on this journey without any need for fuel propelled transport in between.  This event is all about linking different outdoor activities together to complete an adventurous journey and all under your own steam.  This truly is an 'ECO' friendly event with your carbon footprint being zero making it all the more worthwhile.

 The route:

  1. Paddle the length of Ullswater lake in sea kayaks form Pooley Bridge to Glenridding
  2. On foot ascend Helvellyn via the classic scramble on Striding Edge and then descend Swirral Edge taking in the satellite summit of Catstye Cam before making your way back down to the Lake
  3. Travel the last leg of the journey by open canoe back to Pooley Bridge and the finish line.  More often than not the prevailing wind assists the canoes and where possible we will attempt to sail the canoes adding that extra element of excitement to the challenge

We provide:

  • Vehicle support
