England’s Longest & Highest

Imagine paddling the length of Windermere, the longest Lake in England, followed by an ascent of the highest mountain in England and what do you get - The Longest & Highest challenge.  This is a fantastic event that will push people physically and mentally and create a real sense of achievement, while enjoying two of the Lake Districts most iconic locations.

The multi activity aspect of this challenge event makes it very suitable for groups with mixed abilities, as the level of challenge varies between the 2 disciplines, and the kayaking is done in tandem boats.  If you are a group of friends looking for something different, or an organisation looking to provide your team with a real challenge, then this could be the event for you.  This Lake District challenge event also appeals to people looking to undertake something spectacular and is often used when raising money for a good cause or charity.

The Longest & Highest route:

35km within 12 hours -

  1. Start at the southern end of Windermere and paddle the full length of the lake in our fabulous tandem sea kayaks - 16.5km
  2. Vehicle transport to Great Langdale
  3. Ascend Scafell Pike via Angle Tarn/Esk Hause and then back to complete the challenge - 8.5km

For those looking for an even tougher challenge take a look at our Longest and Highest Extreme which links Windermere and Scafell by bike. This is one of our Endurance events suitable for seasoned challenge eventists.

We provide:

Lakeland Lodge Accommodation:

Due to the lengthy duration of the event we advise people to stay in the local area the night before and after, and for those looking for a self-catering option we have our own lodge available for private hire.  Our Lakeland Lodge provides basic but comfortable communal accommodation for up to 12 people.  For groups interested in alternative accommodation we can source a variety of options.
