SAS Strength & Stamina Challenge Event

Distant Horizons have created a fresh and exciting 50km outdoor adventure journey in the Lake District called the 'SAS' (Strength & Stamina) challenge event.  This event was designed with a view to create a much more challenging event in the Lake District requiring a high level of resilience and endurance.

With so many of our groups returning for a fresh challenge we feel our newly designed SAS challenge event is the ideal 'next level' option.  You and your team will require a considerable level of fitness to undertake this challenge and you could see yourself taking anywhere between 10 and 14 hours to complete this awesome Lake District event.

The route:

  1. Bike from Pooley Bridge over the local fells to Haweswater Reservoir and the head of the valley
  2. By foot ascend High Street 828m, an old Roman road, via a testing ridge line to then descend to the mountain pass of Kirkstone
  3. Return to the bikes and cycle an amazing downhill section to Glenridding on Ullswater
  4. Sea kayak to Howtown
  5. Run up Hallin Fell, 388m, and try and spot your finishing line in the far distance
  6. Return to the lake and undertake 25ft cliff jump with 50m swim
  7. Paddle to the end of Ullswater at Pooley Bridge - Finish
