The Lake District 3 Peak challenge is a very popular mountain walking event making use of England's 3 highest mountains - Skiddaw, Helvellyn, and Scafell Pike all exceeding 3000 feet in height and all handily in Cumbria. However if you have already done a walking challenge or are a keen walker you may be looking for an additional element that will take your challenge event to the next level, and that's where we introduce bikes! In around 16 hours ascend the 3 mountain peaks and bike in between; a great way to add a different dimension to this popular challenge event.
During the entire challenge you are fully supported by highly qualified mountain and biking guides who will not only take care of all route finding but also all aspects of mountain and biking safety. Our staff are highly experienced in running challenge events and have extensive knowledge of the Lake District so you are in very good hands whilst enjoying the stunning scenery that the Lake District has to offer.
The start and finish locations can be flexible to suit where your group are accommodated, however here is an overview of the statistics when starting and finishing in Keswick:
A Keswick start and finish would involve cycling to Seathwaite, hiking over Scafell to Langdale, cycling from Langdale to Thirlmere, hiking up Helvellyn, cycling from Thirlmere to Keswick, to then complete the final peak.
Alternative route: If you are looking for a shorter route but would still like to take in major peaks and include cycling, our Edge to Edge is a mountain scrambling and cycle challenge involving the famous Striding and Sharp Edge on Helvellyn and Blencathra. More information on this fantastic circular route can be found by following this link: Edge to Edge.
We invite people to bring their own bikes for personal comfort however we can arrange bike hire at an additional cost. Self-catering group accommodation on the Distant Horizons estate can be combined with our Lake District 3 Peaks Challenge, contact us for availability and prices.
