Ultimate Lake District Traverse

The Ultimate Lake District Traverse spans the Lake District National Park offering diverse terrain and scenery while undertaking a variety of outdoor activities.  

The Ultimate Lake District Traverse will test your stamina and fitness as you travel by bike, on foot and by kayak from Cartmel near the South Cumbria coastline to Pooley Bridge in the North of the Lake District National Park. The is a rewarding and exciting challenge and not to be underestimated. It involves one of England's highest peaks and longest lakes as well as 48km of undulating Lake District countryside by bike.

  • Duration: 13-16 hours
  • Distance: 71km
    • Cycling - 48km 
    • Hiking - 11.5km
    • Kayaking - 11.5
  1. On and off road cycling from Cartmel to Thirlmere 
  2. By foot ascend Helvellyn, descending via Swirral Edge into Ullswater
  3. Paddle the length of Ullswater in tandem sea kayaks from Glenridding to Pooley Bridge

We provide:

*Excludes bikes as we invite people to bring their own for personal comfort, however we can arrange bike hire at an additional cost.

Lakeland Lodge Accommodation:

Due to the lengthy duration of the event we advise people to stay in the local area the night before and after, and for those looking for a self-catering option we have our own lodge available for private hire.  Our Lakeland Lodge provides basic but comfortable communal accommodation for up to 12 people.  For groups interested in alternative accommodation we can source a variety of options.
