Canoe orienteering is a fantastic activity for getting a team to work together, and also if you're looking for an element of competition. Not only that, the Ullswater valley is an inspiring place and sure to give your team an experience they won’t forget.
Teams navigate a route on Ullswater, one of the largest lakes in the Lake District, which takes them to control points and clues on islands, rock faces, bays, outcrops, and buoys. At certain locations there are a mixture of physical and cerebral team development tasks that at least one or all members of the team are required to take part in. The journey culminates in an optional cliff jump as a final major challenge to encourage team support and individual achievement. Canoe orienteering can be done as a half or full day package with an abseil included on the full day.
Collaboration or Competition - The group can work together as one team or split up into several smaller groups, and we can also add a competitive edge by adding a scoring system to the orienteering markers and tasks. Canoe orienteering is perfect for encouraging a team to work together, as navigating a boat as a team requires plenty of communication and planning. It is also a fun and inclusive activity to make sure the whole team has a positive and valuable experience.
Choose your vessel - We either use tandem sea kayaks or rafted open canoes (catamaran style) depending on the preferred style of orienteering course. Our sea kayaks are ideal for smaller groups wishing to travel together, whereas the rafted canoes are more suited to larger groups wishing to split into individual teams, particularly when in competition.
