Earlier this year in May, 400 people headed out over the peak of Hellvelly in aid of Walking With The Wounded. The charity supports our Wounded, Injured and Sick as they make the difficult transition from military to civilian employment and raised over £200,000 for the cause. In recognition of the impact such events can have on the mountain paths and how important the path network is for hikers, Walking With The Wounded have kindly donated £2,000 to Fix the Fells. The cheque was presented to the South Lakes team in Coniston and will help continue to maintain and repair the upland paths across the Lake District.
Due to the success of the event in 2013 the WWTW team are now working with Distant Horizons on creating the next Cumbrian Challenge for 2014.
