Ullswater litter pick 2013

Ullswater litter pick 2013

Thanks to some great summer weather lots of people have come to visit the Lake District to enjoy the wide variety of things on offer.  Great for business but inevitably with increased people comes increased litter.  It is therefore a perfect time of the year to do a clean up to reduce the mess that can get washed up onto our lake shores that not only has a negative visual impact but also a detrimental effect on the local wildlife and surrounding area.  To help keep Ullswater tidy we are running an Ullswater shore litter pick on Sunday the 6th Oct and are inviting volunteers to spare a few hours to help clean up the shore line by boat, or foot.  Distant Horizons will provide canoes but people are more than welcome to bring their own.  All litter picking equipment including pickers, gloves and bags will be provided by the EDC and a skip is going to be kindly provided by Ullswater Steamers at Glenridding car park.  All this leaves is for people to turn up on the day and while enjoying a canoe tour of the lake do a bit of litter picking.  Please can anyone who is keen to get involved contact Emma at Distant Horizons via e-mail at emma@distant-horizons.co.uk or on: 017864 86465.
