Time to host another one of their Lake District challenge events, this time around to a group of 15 clients from Kuehne and Nagel who had not yet experienced the Lake District from our standpoint. During the evening one our instructors went to visit the group at their accommodation at the Langton Centre, near Patterdale, to brief them on the events which would take place in the next 24 hours. Challenge event questions and topics within a briefing usually focus on; what have we let ourselves in for, equipment, weather, clothing, food, what if’s, timings and more often than not ‘when do we get to the pub’. By the end of the briefing all of the participants were happy, confident and assured that as long as they got a good night’s sleep and had a hearty breakfast that everything would be fine.
The following morning the brave team of 15 were collected from their accommodation at 6am and transported to the northern end of Ullswater. Here they would begin the first of three elements of their Ullswater Grind, beginning with sea kayaking the length of Ullswater from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding. The challenge event then involves a hike up and over Helvellyn via the famous Striding Edge, before heading down to Thirlmere to saddle up on hybrid bikes to cycle back to their accommodation.
Throughout this Lake District challenge event each and every member of the Kuehne and Nagel team performed brilliantly testing their fitness, endurance and motivation. On top of physically pushing themselves through 3 difficult elements each person helped, motivated and inspired one another. This is something that through our experience we believe is just as important, if not more so, than being fit. Overall every participant on the challenge event did fantastically, and high spirits and laughter were present throughout the day. Well done to everyone!Tweet
