Canyoning and Ghyll Scrambling in the Lake District
Canyoning/Ghyll Scrambling is one of the most exhilarating outdoor activities you can experience in the Lake District and it is especially suited to groups. The Lake District has many fantastic mountain gorges, known locally as 'Ghylls', which can be ascended or descended depending on the venue, providing endless challenges including rock scrambles, ducks, slides, traverses, abseils, ladder climbs, jumps or even dives which are all controlled under the expert supervision of a qualified instructor.
Being professionally equipped with the right clothing and footwear is essential for your safety and comfort. Even in the summer months the water temperature can still be very cold, which is why we provide all of our clients with superb clothing and equipment including:
- Full steamer wetsuits
- Neoprene socks and gloves
- Wellies
- Waterproof salopettes and jacket
- Petzl 'Ecrin' helmets
- Petzl harnesses
- Peak buoyancy aids
Safety equipment including first aid, emergency shelter, survival bag, spare warm clothing, hot drinks and snacks, ropes and pulleys and a mobile phone are carried by our instructor leading the session giving you peace of mind that we as an organisation have the appropriate measures in place to deal with any situation.
