Distant Horizons offer a wide range of mountain activities, training /skills courses and challenge events in the Lake District and Scotland. With over 20 years of experience delivering mountain skills and training we are confident whatever you are looking to achieve, we will be able to offer you the ideal session or course to meet exactly with your expectation.

New from May 2010

We have a purpose built indoor training centre due to open at our headquarters at Watermillock, Ullswater and we will be offering a number of technical training courses and workshops in:

  • Rock climbing skills
  • Ropework and belaying skills
  • Lead climbing techniques and skills
  • Improvised rescue for climbers
  • Drytooling - 6 routes
  • Crevasse rescue skills
  • Hauling and pulley systems
  • Big wall climbing and aid climbing skills
  • 7m Roof Climbing (both lead and second) x 4 routes

The centre will be providing group climbing and abseiling sessions with full instruction and supervision as well as all necessary equipment including rock climbing shoes.
