The 3 Lakes Challenge

Distant Horizons are proud of creating this challenge event a number of years ago and it has become our most popular event by far. We are the only company offering this unique challenge! The challenge is to paddle the full length of Ullswater, Coniston Water and Windermere, a total of 35km using our single or tandem sea kayaks or a combination of both depending on a group's size and choice of craft.

Whilst we have many open canoes we don't use them on this event as they are not ideally suited due to their speed capabilities and also with any wind they become more difficult to handle and have significant speed reduction. Even if you have never paddled before don't worry as we provide a detailed training session the evening before the event giving everyone the chance to grasp the very basic techniques required to paddle a single sea kayak or tandem sea kayak.

All of our staff are highly experienced and experts in working on this event having completed it countless times and they are there every 'paddle stroke' of the way ensuring your safety and helping to give you the most amazing experience you can possibly have.

This event is undertaken by groups for differnet reasons and many have contacted us as they are simply looking for something different to the over marketed mountain walking challenge events and our 3 Lakes Challenge is the perfect challenge. You may be a group from an organisation looking to have a team building experience and again our 3 Lakes event certainly can provide many aspects of bringing a team closer together through a common experience and goal.

People often use this challenge as a way of fundraising for a charity of their choice and we have delivered this event to numerous groups and organisations who have raised cumulatively an eye watering amount of money for good causes. Whatever you reason this event is simply one of the best you will ever undertake. This event is available to groups of between 8 and 16 people and between April and September.
