The Edge To Edge Mountain Challenge

Another Unique Outdoor Activities Event from 3 Challenges! We designed The Edge 2 Edge Challenge in 2007 to compliment the other exciting outdoor activities challenges that we offer in the Lake District National Park & Nationwide.

It has fast become a popular challenge due to the different dimension it offers to other mountain based walking events such as the Lakeland 3000 footers or National 3 Peaks as it offers scrambling and biking between two mountains that no other event we know of does.

The challenge is fully supported and we provide all of the necessary clothing, equipment, food & drinks and qualified staff. The route can be completed in anything between 8 and 12 hours and very much depending of weather, fitness levels and essentially at times the pace at which people actually choose to go.

The Route

Starting at the foot of Blencathra you walk up to Scales Tarn and scramble up and along the famous Sharp Edge to the summit of Blencathra and descend to Threlkeld via Halls Fell Ridge. After a short refuelling stop you transfer to our mountain bikes and cycle to Ullswater via the old coach road linking St John's in the Vale with Dockray and the Ullswater Valley. Once in Glenridding you ascend the track up towards the disused Greenside mine workings. From here you walk to red tarn and then traverse the famous Striding Edge towards the summit of Helvellyn 950m before descending Swirral Edge and back to Greenside - what an adventure!
